Diving from One&Only Reethi Rah

One&Only Reethi Rah is a PADI 5-Star Gold Palm Resort, and boasts the only PADI National Geographic Dive Centre in the Maldives. It’s also one of only a few dive centres in the Maldives to be a member of 100% Project Aware, with dive programmes that contribute to local marine conservation. The passionate team of expert instructors and guides offer a wide range of PADI dive courses for adults and children as young as eight. State-of-the-art Scubapro rental equipment is available, as well as nitrox, underwater scooters and cameras. Divers have a range of options with morning and afternoon dives, night dives and even rebreather dives.

Daily dive trips to the nearby Rasfari protected marine area, wrecks and channels take place from well-equipped speed boats or the resort’s two luxury dive dhonis fitted with sun decks and hot showers. Under the guidance of the resident marine biologist and the experienced team, enjoy one-of-a-kind aquatic encounters in the Maldives’ underwater paradise. Guests can also opt for a private boat to Hanifaru Bay in Baa Atoll where flights of manta rays congregate, or a superb shark safari to South Ari Atoll’s whale shark waters.

Conservation at One&Only Reethi Rah

Marine conservation is at the heart of One&Only Reethi Rah, with the expert in-house marine biologist and the passionate team that work to protect the Maldives’ underwater world. From crown of thorns removal dives to sea turtle care, guests are always invited to get involved. The dive centre is also one of just a handful in the Maldives to be a member of 100% Project Aware, with dive programmes that contribute to local marine conservation.

The resort is also partnered with The Olive Ridley Project - a charity that protects the Indian Ocean’s turtle population through research, ghost net removal, awareness and education. The resort opened the first specialist turtle rehabilitation habitat in North Male Atoll to care for injured sea turtles. Since the beginning of 2015, the team has rescued eight sea turtles and funded their medical care at the Olive Ridley rehabilitation centre in Baa Atoll.

One&Only also aims to be fully plastic-free, from food-service packaging to mixers at the bar. Staff have also forged a recycling partnership with non-profit environmental organisation Parley for the Oceans, which creates technical textiles from plastic waste.
